WRONG!
Having already watched how team J perform without their three aces on April 17th 2014, I already know what to expect. A very good Adyth and Shinkirou, but nothing else. I've blogged that review in "Why @veJKT48 is the true soul of Team J". Go ahead and read that if you're curious. For those who are tl;dr, here's the extract of that article:
For one thing, I expected the problem would be on Shinkirou and Koike. That wasn't the case though. The problem was on other songs, especially Warning, Seifuku ga Jama wo Suru, Natsu ga Ichatta.
For this particular show, Shinkirou was performed by Rica and Sendy who already have the 'chemistry', so this Shinkirou was beautiful in its own way. As for Koike, Sendy again became the Tsundere girl that she is and made the monologue so funny that I cannot stop laughing, so Adyth was not really an issue.
I noted from M01 that Dhike is not herself, kinda spaced out and not really engaged in the performance. So, this review may be a little harsh because team J was 3 member short because Jeje and Dena were also not feeling well.
The difference in this show and the April 17th show was the trainees. back then, Novinta, Saktia, Sisil, Shafa, and Dena were really just performing as substitutes and did not really try to outperform team J. Saktia had the potential as the spark of the performance, but she did not really try to burn the audience. As a result, the show was not really that satisfactory. It just didn't feel like they tried, or maybe they were just comfortable serving as backups. I don't know. It just did not feel as exciting as it should be
This time, however, the Trainees were more daring (or should I say, really impolite to team J hahaha) and they perform to the fullest. Maybe they realize that this was a great chance to show their seniors and the fans of their abilities. Several things to note
1. In the first article I mentioned about no one on the April 17th performance was able to replace the hole that Veranda left. In the 9-9 performance, Tya, assisted by Manda, was able to do that. She created 'the spark'. It's a different from Veranda's calm, but intense spark. Hers was very explosive and burning. Just like her Jikoshokai which implicates that she was the goddess of Fire. I would love to see her Duel Veranda who is the master of the wind (Miss Badai). In Warning, or in Tsuki no Katachi. hahaha
2. Desy and Sisca both showed their amazing MC skills. Granted their performance were not really that dazzling as Tya and Manda, but their MC were successful. I even read one of the audience's tweet about how the Trainee's MC (after Rider) were better than Team J's
3. Shani, the very "Jaga Image" girl. She was rather nervous in the first three song, but since Natsu ga Icchatta, she was on such a groove, performed beautifully, and eventually reached her peak in the very last song, Namida Uri No Shojou. Given this song is a little about 'galau' and sadness, she utilizes the skill she learned from her unit in Pajama Drive, Temodemo no Namida, which has similar feel to Namida Uri no Shojou.
4. All trainees seems to be full of energy while team J looks wasted. They did have a week full of nothing so that is kinda of an unfair advantage considering team J just got done with Pajama Drive Week. Also, Trainees were built to perform Pajama Drive which is, in my opinion, the most tiring setlist JKT48 has ever perform.
Even though the unit the trainee's perform is the easiest unit, still kudos to them because they have short time to learn the unit and the blocking for other songs. I mean, learning Tsukimisou and Warning is not exactly easy because everyone has its own moves and blocking. It's not like learning songs in Pajama Drive which some blocking has the same moves.
Overall, the trainees are quite good in performing Dareka no Tame ni. If there is one thing to be addressed is the fact that they have yet to embrace the true feel of Rider (the feel of losing someone important as opposed to the feel they perform today, the feeling of seeing someone left on a journey). If they can manage that, they may, no, they WILL outperform the original Riders.
To conclude, I am a little disappointed that they were all stacked up to Rider. Tya and Manda would do well in Bird and Shani would shine in Shinkirou. Maybe next time. Maybe Andela and Elaine would get a chance to perform. Also, I like how JOT selects members that suits well with the dark theme of Dareka no Tame ni.
As usual, you can leave a comment, rebuttal, argument down below or mention us Directly @Light_Unit or even directly to @Radityo_Utomo. Feel free to attack because this article is a direct sarcasm on how team J couldn't control their own setlist :)

i didn't see the show live but if the tweets are to be believed then consider me astonished!
that my 3rd gen favorite Shani seemed overshadowed by Tya & Manda didn't help either heheheh...
c'mon Team J! it's not how you never fall but how you always get back up! to be fair i heard Sendy & Rica gave a hell of a fight...
i can more easily forgive a mediocre performance despite valiant effort rather than a mediocre performance by jaded members. and i still believe team J is not jaded, they're still passionate, but they're simply too tired..
in further defense, are you familiar with the idiom "familiarity breeds contempt"? we've seen team J perform DnT sooo many times.. and OTOH novelty could bring (undue) excitement..
i think it's safe to say that last night was more a case of the trainees doing very well rather than team J failing.. though in the end team J ended up looking worse than they actually were. it's like Alonso and Hamilton in Mclaren in 2007. Alonso wasn't slow but Hamilton made him look slow..
anyway i still want to congratulate the trainees for a (reportedly) startling performance, and oh, Shani in Shinkirou? YES PLEASE!! hahahah...
Shani did not get outperformed. She was just rather slow out of the gate. Maybe some stage freight kicked in because I'm hearing things about they have just about one week, ten days max, to learn the setlist. Manda and Tya just have that 'hajar bleh' attitude and just came out blazing so it seems like they were the better performer. In fact, Shani's (as well as Sisca and Desy) perform well. Just not up to their standard because they were nervous. As the setlist goes, however, Shani got more comfortable, started to shine and finishes strong.
Rica and Sendy did well.... in unit song. In group songs, not so much (with the exception of Adyth). They did not take over when they needed to (especially in Natsu ga Ichatta when only 14 members performed) and hence got eaten alive by the Trainees who did take over and dominate.
Something about team J in this performance is off. Maybe too tired (Revival Effect? I remember last year Members collapsing after the revival) although Sonia, Dena, and Sendy did not perform. They should have been the one leading Team J. Dena was sick, so.... yeah. Sendy tried, but it was not enough. Sonia also needs to be more dominant. She took a back seat last night
Naaaaah. I've watched 3rd Gen Pajama Drive so often now (7 total, 4 in a row.) and they still amuses me. Back when 3rd Gen was not selected, I watched DnT 11 times including a 7 watch-streak and I still get excited every time (excluding April 17th).
Also, this is my first DnT since June. So, I should have that 'unfamiliarity'.
You're right. It's not because team J performed badly, more of Trainees being too good. I'm just a little disappointed that Team J actually KNOWS they were getting beaten, and did not do anything during the show to actually make the battle (yes, battle. The tension between team J and Trainee was on display during one of the MCs) interesting. I mean, seen Beby's and Shania's Tweet last night?
hahaha. I know right. I really want Shani to take on Veranda in Shinkirou. So far only Ghaida that can stand her ground against Queen of the Sky.
Shania and Beby's morning tweets seem somewhat apologetic..
again, this is more about the trainees doing well and not about team J doing badly. c'mon, it's like judging Schumacher's career from his "comeback" years at Mercedes lol...
IMO catching up at the second half is quite hard with 2 more members missing. At least they showed strength in the face of adversity. Note that Beby went as far as singing live (open mic) to cover for the missing members.
As i didn't see the show live, i can't confirm the blocking that the trainees got. but IF they get Melody, Veranda, Haruka's blocking, well, it's not very hard to get attention. Sonia, Dena & Co. are already on a losing battle if they get their usual positions. plus the pre-show hype of seeing the trainee's DnT shonichi, the audiences' attention naturally shifts to them.
Dena could've been the dark horse. when she's on form she could be quite dangerous, but Sonia? no, not yet.
anyway, glad to hear that Shani wasn't totally undermined, though. and i see her having stage frights as somewhat positive. it means that she cares about giving her best. perhaps she wouldn't grow to be a Viny-like perfectionist, but at least she's not the "I'm-so-pretty-i-could-get-away-with-anything" type. (or is she? lol..)
some say that Shani kind of reminds them of Pajama Drive-era Veranda; someone with modeling background hampered by shyness, who is always slightly out of the spotlight, but gradually and constantly improving her performance. ah we'll see..
Probably I am a little harsh because, as I once said, trainees know what to do because they have seen gen 1 and 2 do it.
yes Beby sang live, but either the mic was being crap or she just forgot, there were part that only contain backing vocal.
all trainees got the usual Rider blocking. Melody's, Veranda's, and Haruka's were covered by Sonia, Sendy, and Rica respectively.
Well, without the 3 aces, it was only natural that the audiences seek other focus. hihi
as I said, Dena was sick, so yeah. not really much she can do to lead team J. Sonia was plotted as the global center to cover for Melody. She should have done a lot more.
Shani.... I feel she's kinda of a mix of Veranda and Viny in some way. Always looking to perfect her performance but too shy to actually be the top performer lol
I'd love to see JOT plot Shani in different type of units.
